MS Dhoni to switch playing ‘Call of Duty’ instead of ‘PUBG’
The first Indian male cricketer to take a hat-trick in a Twenty20 International, Deepak Chahar is all in the news now. Recently, Chennai Super Kings released a video that went viral on their official Twitter account where Chahar revealed that Dhoni has switched to playing ‘Call of Duty’ instead of ‘PUBG’. He also revealed that CSK skipper MS Dhoni has stopped playing PUBG, and is losing interest in the game.
Chahar affirmed, “Sometime back he got back to playing PUBG but had lost touch. He couldn’t figure out who was shooting from where. He clearly was looking out of touch.”
He also added that Dhoni has been on a sabbatical since the 2019 World Cup semi-final loss against New Zealand and was all set to mark his return in the 13th edition of the IPL with CSK, but sadly, Dhoni fans will have to wait much longer to witness his comeback.
What’s with Deepal Chahar?
The achievements of Chahar over the past have been truly praiseworthy for India. He has undoubtedly been a solid asset for the country. Deepak Chahar began his career on his first-class debut against Hyderabad at Jaipur in the first game of the 2010-11 Ranji Trophy season. Later, in the year 2016, Chahar worked with International cricket coaches Ian Pont and Catherine Dalton in Jaipur as part of Rajasthan Cricket’s development camp. It was during this phase, Chahar gained confidence, consistency, and control, which led him to become an expert Power Play specialist.
Further, Chahar was subsequently selected for the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. He played a significant role in winning the series against Bangladesh in the final match. He took the best bowling figures in T20Is, with six wickets for seven runs from 3.2 overs. He also took the first hat-trick by a bowler for India and his first five-wicket haul in T20Is and won the Player of the Match award for the final match and also the Player of the series award. In the year 2018, Chahar was successful in buying the Chennai Super Kings during the 2018 IPL auction.
Chahar’s journey did not end here! He was then stationed to don the Chennai Super Kings jersey in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the tournament was postponed from March 30th to April 15th. CSK also had to cancel their training camp post the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
Nevertheless, considering the extreme harsh situations across the globe, the reports have suggested that the tournament will have to be canceled this year. Other reports have however made a contradiction to the above statement that the tournament might be held later this year before the T20 World Cup 2020 which again seems to be a little doubtful.
Dhoni – Chahar relationship
The relationship between Deepak Chahar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni has gone a long way in the past. They were both a part of the Chennai Super Kings in the last two seasons. Chahar has become a lot closer to Mahi Bhai, who captains the team with much zeal and enthusiasm.
In a video-call interview for CSK, Chahar shared another form of competition in partnership with Dhoni and went on to reveal that Dhoni has “lost touch”. He was obviously referring to playing PUBG Mobile.
Recently, ahead of the ICC World Cup 2019, Dhoni and a couple of other members of the Men in Blue, including Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were seen playing the PUBG game at the airport and were a part of the trend.
PUBG and cricket: The intersection
There are numerous Indian cricket players who are popular for their excellent PUBG skills besides cricket. There have been quite a lot of cases in the past where many current India players have been spotted playing PUBG and betting online while traveling or in their leisure time. Presently, in a recent video interview with Chennai Super Kings, pacer Deepak Chahar openly stated that CSK skipper MS Dhoni has stopped playing PUBG and is losing touch in the game.
Also, given the situation today because of the coronavirus outbreak, a number of cricketers have now engaged in training and working out while staying indoors and at home. In addition to this, many cricketers have been spotted spending their quarantine time by playing exciting games on betting apps, and Esports amid the lockdown. Did you know? The prolific England all-rounder Ben Stokes also signed in to race in virtual F1 Grand Prox along with the likes of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
The present situation that we are in because of the coronavirus outbreak has indeed put all the sporting events on stop. Be it football or cricket, the fans have no thrilling sporting action to look forward to. Amid these difficult times, many cricketers are either using Twitter or Instagram to stay connected with their fans. So don’t miss the updates and do stay safe!
